Who is Wade Houston?
Wade Houston
(a.k.a. Wade H.Houston, Jr.) is an internet marketer and author of the blog, Wade's Two Cents and of the blog, How Great Is God. Wade also
teaches internet marketing techniques in live online classes which are
accessible around the world. He makes his home in Marietta, Georgia which
is part of the greater Atlanta region.
Wade Houston holds two masters
degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He has a Master of Divinity and a
Master of Arts in Religious Education. Wade Houston received his Bachelor
of Arts degree from Oral Roberts University in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to that, Anderson College (now Anderson
University) in Anderson, South Carolina presented Wade Houston with an Associate
of Arts and named him to the school's Denmark Society.
Wade Houston was born into a
Southern Baptist minister's family and has two younger sisters. Early in
Wade's life, his father became a Protestant army chaplain. This
resulted in the Houston family moving quite a bit. So Wade grew up in
multiple states and even spent a few years in Germany. While there he had
opportunity to visit several neighboring countries including Italy, France,
Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Luxemburg and Austria.
In addition to living in
different parts of the United States, Wade Houston has done short term mission
work in other parts of the hemisphere. Wade worked as a clown in a
children's Vacation Bible School in Mexico. He also spent part of a summer
in Haiti. There he spoke in a number of churches and taught an
introduction to English in a missionary school. Years before, while still
in high school, Wade spent a summer on the mission field in the jungles of
Peru.
Wade Houston's high school
career was split between Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, Texas and
Lakeshore High School in College Park, Georgia. Wade was active in the
dramatic arts programs in both schools. In 1972, Houston attended the
Georgia State Governors Honors Program in the area of drama. Wade
Houston graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1973 as the student with
the highest S.A.T. score in his class. He was also
Co-Valedictorian.
Following seminary, Wade Houston
moved to Georgia and enrolled in the Computer Programming and Operations
training at Control Data Institute. He went to work for the Atlanta Union Mission where for several
years Wade was the Computer Systems Coordinator, and later, Shelter Manager
for their Men's Division. After years of working with the homeless and
working with the drug and alcohol addicted, Houston needed a career
change. Wade then spent seven years working in telecommunications
with voice mail and PBX systems as a trainer, installer, and service
technician. He left that field in August of 2005.
In recent days, Wade Houston has
been working for the federal government. He has also done some
occasional work with a call center outsourcing firm in Kennesaw, Georgia.
These activities combined with his internet marketing, blogging and teaching
keeps him busy.
Wade Houston (Wade H. Houston,
Jr.) broke with the Southern Baptist Convention in the mid 1990's due to a
variety of minor theological differences. The most notable of those
differences were related to gender issues including the denomination's
stance opposing the ordination of women to the ministry. Today, Wade
attends worship at an Episcopal
church in Marietta, Georgia. Wade's father, Dr. Wade Houston, Sr., who
resides in Augusta, Georgia, is still active in the Southern Baptist
Convention.
